Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for assisting with the administration of home care nursing services to be provided to the Tribal Community, leveraging available resources to coordinate services that meet the health and wellness needs of Tribal Members and families within their homes. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assessing patients’ health problems and needs, administering medications and/or immunizations, and providing therapeutic treatments and counseling patients. The incumbent develops and implements individualized care plans in accordance with Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)/Physician MD orders and established care guidelines. The individual serves as a patient advocate and ensures the health, wellness, and safety of patients and their families. This position assists with the supervision of the Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Home Health Aides (HHA), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) providing care at the same location and maintains accurate medical records. Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing is required. Current and valid State of Florida’s Registered Nurse License is required. A minimum of two (2) years of prior experience providing acute care services in an institutional setting is preferred, and at least one (1) year of home health experience. Supervisory experience is preferred. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and a valid Florida Driver’s License are required. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrate strong basic math skills. Demonstrate proficient nursing skills per competency checklist. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to speak the Creek and/or Miccosukee language is preferred. Ability to travel and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, including participating in on-call services as required.
