Job Description
The incumbent in this position is responsible for leading, organizing, instructing, and developing an athletic team or program for the student population of the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Ahfachkee School in one or more assigned athletic programs. Ahfachkee School athletic teams operate as independent school athletic programs. The incumbent ensures compliance with all applicable federal requirements, Seminole Tribe of Florida policies and procedures, Ahfachkee School policies, Athletic Program procedures, Student Handbook expectations, applicable competition, league, tournament, or event rules, and any FHSAA standards or guidelines adopted by the School or Athletic Department as a best-practice framework. The incumbent may be assigned to coach one or more athletic programs based on departmental needs, qualifications, certifications, and seasonal requirements. The incumbent provides appropriate safety instructions and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students. High School diploma or equivalent GED is required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience coaching, instructing, officiating, participating in or facilitating organized athletic activities is required. Fundamentals of Coaching Course Certification related to the specific sport is preferred. CPR, First Aid, AED, concussion awareness, heat illness prevention, sudden cardiac arrest awareness, and other required athletic safety certifications may be required based on the assigned sport, School requirements, Ahfachkee Athletics Department requirements, or applicable safety standards. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members. Demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft software packages. Ability to travel to all locations and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
