Job Description

The Aquatics Manager is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of aquatic habit restoration projects conducted on lakes, rivers, and wetlands located under the Seminole Tribe of Florida’s Tribal lands. This position ensures the effective operation, maintenance, and environmental stewardship of canals, ditches, various ponds, and pumping systems. The incumbent identifies aquatic habitat restoration/enhancement opportunities, secures internal or external project funding, hires and oversees contractors to complete habitat projects, and conducts assessments of project effectiveness to promote safe, efficient, and sustainable water management practices. The individual interacts professionally with the public and partners, providing technical expertise on aquatic habitat management. Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Wildlife, Fisheries Management, Zoology, Environmental Sciences or other closely related curriculum is required. A minimum of four (4) years of professional experience in wildlife biology, land management, upland and wetland ecology, and environmental impact review and assessment is required; an equivalent combination of education/training and experience may be considered. Knowledge of natural resources conservation practices. Knowledge of the principles of aquatic ecology and fish/wildlife habitat management and control strategies. Familiarity with herbicide mixing and application in water-based environments. Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License is required. Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills. Must demonstrate proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office applications, GIS, and GPS applications to habitat management and surveys. Must have the ability to travel across reservations/state and work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position requires to be available for 24/7 on-call support, responding to emergency maintenance and operational issues as required.
